The Perigordine markets – a vast array of colour, aromas, fresh produce & crafts. A must visit!

The traditional Perigordian farmers guided market tours is part of the One Day Cookery Course and a fantastic segment of the overall CookDordogne experience. However, if you are participating on our one day course, we offer places for partners to join uniquely on the market experience.

At the colourful, bustling markets of Le Bugue or St Cyprien, you will sample local produce, meet and participate in informative discussions with local farmers, and learn all about the vast array of produce on offer, produce such as foie gras (in its various guises), confit de canard (preserved duck), truffles and wonderful magret (duck steak) plus much more.

You will receive expert cooking and buying tips, what to look and smell for when buying ingredients, how to get the best out of the products and, what to avoid.

Chef Ian will share his ideas about cooking at home, eating out and evoke vivid images of daily life in this part of south west France. He will offer ideas using regional food in ways you can recreate back in your own home with local ingredients.
